Our School

East Richmond Education Centre (EREC): From Vision to Reality

EREC, a pre-primary to Grade 8 learning complex with a population of 260 students, was a major renovation and addition project undertaken by the Province of Nova Scotia. We offer programming in English, French Immersion as well as Mi'kmaq.

The redesign of this Education Centre was inspired by the visioning  work of representatives of the school community who constituted the school Steering team. Working with the design team, School Steering team members provided advice relating to the community values and priorities to be reflected in the design.

EREC is located in the community of St. Peter's, serving the communities of River Bourgeois, St. Peter's, L 'Ardoise, Chapel Island, Framboise, Sampsonville, Grand River, Soldier's Cove, and Louisdale. This state of the art facility with highly skilled staff, provides the foundation necessary to nurture our children and provide them with a rich and varied educational experience. As well, our facility is enhanced through the many extra-curricular activities offered to our students, which not only include team sports, but also a food studies lab, a wood shop/technology education lab, as well activities such as sewing club and Lego club.

In conjunction with the St. Peter’s and Area Lion’s Club, a new playing field and playground equipment has been added and serves to enrich our school, and community, even further.

EREC is the result of many hours of dedicated work by representatives of the school community!
